News from the Library on database trials and more

There is a trial of ALL the Alexander Street databases to the end of August 2011.  This vendor focuses on American history and culture, but is broadening its titles. Key databases include:

  • Black thought & Culture,
  • North American Women’s Letters and Diaries, Colonial to 1950
  • Women and Social Movements
  • Underground and Independent Comics, Comix, and Graphic Novels
  • American History in Video

ASIAPACIFIC FILMS streams culturally and historically significant films from Asia and the Pacific. To 20th August 2011.

Each of these trials requires a login:
Follow the link on this url and login with your unikey to obtain the passwords.

Please fill out the Database Evaluation Form or contact your Faculty Liaison Librarian,
Rena McGrogan, with your comments and desires.

Please also have a look at Kanopy. This is a company that allows streaming of films, but the Library needs to know if they sell titles that would be of use in teaching and research. Please let Rena McGrogan, know if you find titles that would be of use.
