The Australian Human Rights Commission is now calling for nominations for the 2009 Human Rights Medals and Awards, held annually to recognise the extraordinary contribution to Australian Society of individuals and organisations committed to human rights, social justice and equality. The awards are sponsored this year by Lexis Nexis, Department of Immigration and Citizenship, Law Council of Australia, Trophyland, iHR Australia and The Co-op Bookshop.
Closing date: 2 October 2009.

Individuals can nominate themselves, or another individual or organisation for the 2009 Human Rights Medal, Young People’s Human Rights Medal or one of the seven award categories: Law, Community (Organisation), Community (Individual), Literature (non-fiction), Print Media, Television and Radio.
Nominations can be made by filling in the entry form (including supporting material) and send to the Commission by 2 October 2009. Or if you think an individual or organisation should be considered, please call or email their details and the Commission would be happy to send them an entry form.
